Unlike contemporaries like Call of Duty or Medal of Honor , Road to Hill 30 focuses on small-unit tactics. Players command two distinct teams—a for suppression and an Assault Team for flanking—using the "Four Fs" of military doctrine: Find: Locate the enemy behind cover.
The game intentionally makes individual marksmanship difficult to force players into using these squad-based strategies.
Use the Fire Team to pin enemies down with suppressive fire, indicated by an in-game icon that turns from red to gray when the enemy is fully suppressed.
Maneuver the Assault Team to an angle where the enemy's cover is no longer effective. Finish: Eliminate the suppressed and exposed enemy.
